Saturday: Bele Chere and Merry Wives of Windsor

We went to Bele Chere and I picked up a new piece for my planned collection of art in the bedroom; I really should get around to putting that up one of these days. Marc said that was the deal I was agreeing to: if I bought the art, I had to start hanging [...]

This week in statistics

Number of hours worked by Tuesday this week: 22 Turkey cheddar sausages eaten: 3 Lunches with husband: 1* Hours spent filing: 3 Triumphs over bureaucracy: 1** Failures to bring Dorothy to childcare as planned: 1***

Hamburgers

Elspeth: Until I was almost grown I thought lettuce and tomato was a hamburger. Me: What do you mean? Elspeth: When we were little you’d give us the lettuce and tomato off your hamburgers and I thought that was what a hamburger was. Me: (doubles over laughing) Elspeth: Also, I don’t think we were [...]

Deep Creek: Dorothy’s first long hike

We took Dorothy up the falls in the Deep Creek area of the Smoky Mountains this morning, leaving around 8 am and returning close to 3 pm. We walked a couple miles all told (Dorothy walked more than half of that by herself!).

This particular walk is even, very little elevation change. It follows the [...]

I took a few photos before the show began of Patrick Hackney practicing one of his jumps (as Oberon).

Downton Abbey: Season 2

Downton Abbey: Season 2 has finally arrived on instant Netflix – huzzah! We’re getting started this afternoon while recovering from our walk into town (oh, how I miss walking about frequently enough that each short jaunt didn’t leave me withered).

The current plan:

The closing show of A Midsummer Night’s Dream tonight, after dinner at [...]

The day I forgot* entirely to check my work emails…

It’s amazing how just a day can turn around on a dime sometimes. Mine really began last night when the car needed a [...]

Battery

So this is why our battery needs replacing. And why the battery terminal, brittle and thin, needs replacing. Two days off, three jumps, one battery, one battery terminal; if I hadn’t already planned to be off, I would have had to be off anyway. Grr.

[...]

Jazz hands!

It turns out that I love Jazz.
