It’s amazing how just a day can turn around on a dime sometimes. Mine really began last night when the car needed a jump outside of Edna’s where I’d just enjoyed a great jazz show with good friends, followed by a jump at the Autozone, sleep, attempting to jump the car this morning because we were to meet friends for a trip to Knoxville that just wasn’t in the cards. Eventually Eric with Billy’s Wrecker and Battery came, sold us a battery, and then sent us off to Dale’s to have it installed along with a couple of battery terminals.
Once this was all done, the day turned on a dime and became all about good friends (amazing friends really), great conversation, exploring Asheville (now I want to move to Town Mountain (see the reference to Seely Castle’s Tiara apts to know where we’d end up)), and lots of good food, to wit:
- Fiesta Chicken salad at Neo Burrito
- Cayenne ice cream at the Hop
- Drinks and conversation at the Battery Park Book Exchange (managed by the delightful Emily)
- And more drinks and amazing crepes at The Wedge Brewery (courtesy of the food trucks** parked on site)
Honestly I was bewailing*** the fact that my Friday off had gone so badly awry but wandering Asheville, making no decisions about where we’d end up next, was so relaxing, and fun and adventurous that I’d take a day like today over a trip to Knoxville anytime.
* I never forget to check my work email; woah!
** I think Ceci’s is related to the truck at the Wedge tonight, but I’m not entirely sure why.
*** Bemoaning the fact isn’t nearly strong enough; it was more like the kind of wail that one usually associates with banshees.
