- two friends & their child come for dinner last night
- a plate piled high with 7-layer cookies (the only dessert I can successfully bake without imperiling anyone)
- two territorial toddlers trying to share the toys just enough not to be rebuked for failing to share
Allison, Stephanie and Gabriel came over last night for dinner and conversation. It had been a while since we’d all had a chance to chat and relax (or relax as much as anyone can with toddlers to corral). I learned that Stephanie doesn’t care for moldy cheeses (which left more blue cheese for me!) but does like 7-layer cookies (though Gabriel declared them disgusting on sight).
Earlier in the day Els and I found that the pool needs a skimmer before we’ll get in it again (leaves, and bees, and mosquito larvae, oh my!) but otherwise seemed none the worse for two weeks of neglect.
Tonight we’ll grill and hold court in the back yard, enjoying what I hope will be nice weather and good conversation and excellent beef dogs.
And maybe I’ll remember to take a picture or three.
