Marc and I do a date day every Saturday. Yesterday’s was particularly awesome (probably because we’re going to miss the next two due to my AWESOME ROAD TRIP with my baby sister). We had breakfast with Dorothy, then once Els was home from volunteering, we headed out to catch Seven Psychopaths (excellent!)
We started off parking in our usual garage ($4.50 when we left) before wandering about to look for the Sky Bar on Battery Park. While wandering I spotted this neat owl gargoyle at the corners of each balcony on this building. Since I’m playing with my prime lenses I took a photo. Nice!
Next we met up with Mark & Alan at the Sky Bar. The views were great! A quick drink later, we were off again.
At Creperie Bouchon (which to our great collective sadness closes for the season on 3 November) resulted in a carmelized onion & goat cheese crepe for me (delicious!) and bread pudding for Marc (good but not great). We’ll miss this one while it’s closed; I’d guess we’ll head straight back over when they reopen in the spring!
After we wandered over to NC Stage where we saw the Midnight Area, a satirical take on The Twilight Zone. It consisted of six playlets. Like Twilight Zone they all had largely predictable twists, but they players were so engaging, and the stories still clever and funny. One involved a woman who was on a blind date, where it turned out her date was her Soul mate, after a fashion. Other stories involved a demonic sock puppet, a werewolf and vampire, a be-care-what-you-wish-for scenario, a zombie news crew, and a photo app aptly named InstaDamn.
After at the newly opened Chestnut (by Joe Scully and Kevin Westmoreland of The Corner Kitchen), we enjoyed dessert and conversation. Mark got the personal Apple Pie with housemade Vanilla Ice Cream. The rest of us ordered the Espresso Chocolate Souffle with fancy sauces.
I enjoyed the Souffle more than Alan and Marc; they both felt the Apple Pie was better. I’m sure I’dve agreed if I didn’t hate Apple Pie.
Note to self: This is that night time star tour you want to go on.

Am I missing the Seven Psychopaths reference? I saw it. Kind of hated it but kind of liked it. Loved Christopher Walken, for sure. Xo!
I had to edit it in. Started with Seven Psychopaths, loved it!
