Barbie

Dorothy has discovered Barbie (with the help of her bargain hunting mommy). I’ve always through Barbie clothing was too much trouble to be worth sewing – but perhaps I can try a bit anyway. I can remember having elaborate Barbie outfits made for my Barbies by one of our caretakers when I was growing up; […]

Champaigne marmalade

Marc made awesome champagne marmalade cornbread for dessert last night. Oh, so delicious. It still always makes me think of my daddy.

White bean chicken chili

[gallery columns="2" ids="4449,4589"] Marc finally made white bean chicken chili using our new favorite salsa as an ingredient… and it wasn’t amazing. He postulates that this is because he over watered the chili. Next time he’ll try making this not-too-flavorful chili into something awesome by reducing the water. In the meantime, it’s still better than […]

Pasta Pie

I made pasta pie on Sunday for dinner. [gallery ids="4564,4565,4566,4567,4563"] It was pretty good but needed perhaps some more sauce Vintage scandinavian dinnerware (a note tucked away for next time). It was time consuming to put the rigatoni noodles up on end and fill them with sauce and meat, but the final look was awesome. […]

I was sitting in the living room, enjoying some Bones on the television, when I looked up and saw Marc and Dorothy working together to make cookies. I just had to take more photos. […]

A salsa like no other…

[gallery columns="2" ids="4449,4450"] Becka, introducer of new foods to our lives, introduced us to this AMAZING salsa. And when we tasted it, Marc and I both thought it would make an amazing addition to fajitas. And it did. But – and this is going to amazing I just know it – I can’t wait until […]

Forty-four

Yesterday I leveled up; I’m 44 now. I’d made all these plans to celebrate over the weekend so that’s mostly what we did: gardening, gardening, hammering just enough to make for a doctor’s visit Monday morning, and then more gardening (this time entirely Marc, and only enough to stop me from trying to garden […]

Cooking class

Marc and I attended a free cooking class at the Claddagh Inn on Main Street in Hendersonville. We’d never been to the inn before – it’s lovely. The cooking class was fun, and informative. AND I LOVED THE BROCCOLI SOUP – even though broccoli is icky. Wow, right? The class was taught by Chef Gina […]
